University of Iowa - Masters of Arts flute performance
Performing and Teaching Artist, Madeline Walker has relocated to the Washington DC area after earning her Master of Arts Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Iowa. As a graduate student, Madeline studied under international soloist, master clinician and flute professor, Nicole Esposito. In addition, she studied under numerous clinicians and master artists including flautists William Bennett, Denis Bouriakov, Michel Bellavance, Horacio Parravicini, Maxim Rubtsov, Philip Dikeman and piccoloists Geralyn Coticone and Nicola Mazzanti. During her graduate tenure, Madeline was awarded the Flute Teaching Assistantship at the University of Iowa and held the Adjunct Flute Professorship at Culver-Stockton College in Missouri.
Madeline completed her undergraduate studies at Central Michigan University, where she earned separate degrees in performance flute and business marketing. During this time, she studied flute with Drs. Joanna Cowan White and Tess Miller. In addition she studied privately with Jeffery Zook, Principal soloist/piccoloist for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Jaimie Wagner, Professor of Flute at the University of Windsor and Hillsdale College.
Throughout her years of musical study, performance and teaching, Madeline has fostered her passion for teaching and musical collaboration. She has incorporated advanced teaching techniques and daily practice regimens into her musical instruction. As a performer she has flourished, performing in numerous orchestras and small musical ensembles.
Madeline is currently a performing member of the Capital City Symphony and Columbia Flute Choir playing the contrabass and subcontrabass flutes
