Shenandoah Conservatory - Bachelor of Music Therapy
Kyla Wilcox received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Therapy from Shenandoah Conservatory with an emphsis in bass clarinet. While attending Shenandoah, Kyla studied under the gifted American clarinetist Garrick Zoeter.
She performed on clarinet, bass clarinet and saxophone in the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the Shenandoah Conservatory Wind Ensemble, the Atlas Quartet, EDGE Ensemble, Clarinet Choir and the Buzzin' Dozen Pep Band under the direction of Dr. Damon Talley, Jan Wagner, Dr. Timothy Robblee and Garrick Zoeter.
Kyla completed her music therapy internship at A Place To Be in Middleburg, Virginia. She has had clinical experience working with individuals with unique needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disabilities, Cerebral Palsey and emotional and behavioral disorders. To best serve these individuals, Kyla integrates guitar, piano, singing and improvisation in a therapudic manner. She plans to pursue a career in music theapy with children and young adults.
Kyla is also an accomplished pianist and guitarist. She started learning and mastering multiple instruments at a young age.
Kyla is an alumnus of the national honor society Alpha Lambda Delta, and the national honorary band fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi where she served as the chapter's vice president of Membership and Membership Education Chair.
